Sky Mavis Bets Big on the Philippines
Sky Mavis, the Vietnamese game studio behind the globally acclaimed Axie Infinity, has announced the opening of a major Web3 gaming development hub in Manila's Makati City. The facility will serve as the company's primary Southeast Asian development center.
The hub, located in the BGC tech corridor, will initially employ 200 Filipino developers, artists, and game designers, with plans to expand to 500 employees within 18 months.
Why the Philippines?
The Philippines has long been the heartbeat of Axie Infinity's player base. At its peak, the game had over 2.5 million daily active users in the country, with many Filipino families relying on it as a primary source of income during the pandemic.
The Filipino gaming community built Axie Infinity. It's only right that we invest back into this incredible ecosystem. — Sky Mavis CEO
